Al termine del corso lo studente avrà acquisito la conoscenza della storia del design attraverso l'analisi delle teorie, degli autori e degli oggetti nell’arco temporale tra XIX e XXI secolo. Particolarmente importante sarà lo studio dei rapporti tra storia dell'architettura contemporanea, arte contemporanea e design. Saranno illustrate, e poi approfondite dai singoli studenti con letture personali, le teorie che sottostanno all'ideazione del prodotto di design e che hanno portato alla sua affermazione come simbolo di modernità.
Il corso fornirà le capacità di analisi di alcuni oggetti celebri individuando le idee progettuali, le tecniche di realizzazione e le ragioni alla base del loro successo.
At the end of the course the student will have acquired knowledge of the history of design through the analysis of theories, authors and objects in the period between the 19th and 21st centuries. Particularly important will be the study of the relationships between the history of contemporary architecture, contemporary art and design. The theories underlying the conception of the design product and which have led to its affirmation as a symbol of modernity will be illustrated and then explored by the individual students through personal readings.
The course will provide students with the ability to analyse some famous objects, identifying the design ideas, the production techniques and the reasons behind their success.

Lo studente dovrà acquisire le capacità di orientarsi nella datazione, nel riconoscimento stilistico e nella lettura critica di oggetti di design, nonché nell’analisi e interpretazione di testi teorici.
The student must acquire the ability to orientate himself in the dating, stylistic recognition and critical reading of design objects, as well as in the analysis and interpretation of theoretical texts.
