The course aims to consolidate knowledge in the history of modern political thought.

Through participation in the activities of the course.

Ability to organize the work independently, to present, discuss and write a text, to read critically classics of political thought.

Prerequisites

Good knowledge of modern and contemporary history

Teaching methods

Due to Covid Emergency the course will not host student seminars.

 

Syllabus

Figures of Utopia and Dystopia 

The course will focus on authors, texts, forms, ideas and languages that have contributed to this part of Western political thought.

Non-attending students info

Students who do not attend course's classes will have to study the following books:

1) M. Baldini, La storia delle utopie, Armando Editore 1994

2) three texts, one from Group A,  one from Group B, one from Group C.

Assessment methods

For attending students, the exam may consist in the discussion of a report drawn up starting from some readings agreed with the teacher and the Tutor exerciser.
