Acquisire una conoscenza specialistica nell'ambito dei testi e dei contesti della letteratura bilingue di area italiana del Medioevo e dell'Umanesimo, con particolare attenzione all'opera volgare e latina di Dante, Petrarca, Boccaccio e degli autori del Rinascimento.
All students who successfully complete the course will be able to work on a critical edition of the texts of medieval and humanistic Latin literature. They will mature solid knowledge of philological techniques and advanced knowledge of textual criticism in relation to medieval and humanistic literary texts, updated to the most recent philological and critical methods.

Students will be assessed on their demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. The course includes both an oral presentation and a written report. With the oral presentation, delivered in front of the whole class, students must demonstrate the ability to approach witch critical awareness a circumscribed research problem and to give an effective exposition of the results. In their paper, students must put in written form their presentation, improved by suggestions and corrections provided by the teacher. Finally, at the oral exam, it will be assessed students’ knowledge of the course material and their ability to discuss thoroughly the readings, with propriety of expression.
Possedere lo strumentario linguistico-letterario e storico-critico necessario per analizzare le opere della letteratura latina medievale e umanistica e il loro contesto storico e culturale, con particolare riferimento alle opere volgari e latine di Dante, Petrarca, Boccaccio e degli autori del Rinascimento.
By the end of the course, students will be able to discuss medieval and humanistic Latin literature, to put representatives and exemplar texts (such as Dante, Petrarch, and Boccaccio’s) in the historical and cultural background. They will also know how to use main digital and paper-based tools.

Students will develop their ability to be fully involved in a teamworking. Students will acquire accuracy and precision when collecting and analysing data of medieval and humanistic texts. They will also be able to properly consult a scholarly critical edition of medieval and humanistic texts.
Students will be assessed on the basis of their involvement in the teamwork and their management of the scientific project.

La corrispondenza epistolare tra Petrarca e Boccaccio: problematiche storico-critiche e filologiche
Il corso affronterà le principali questioni storico-critiche, biografiche e filologiche legate alla corrispondenza epistolare tra Petrarca e Boccaccio. Attraverso la lettura di epistole significative della corrispondenza tra i due autori, saranno evidenziati gli aspetti più importanti del lungo e inteso dialogo epistolare.
Correspondence between Petrarch and Boccaccio: historical, critical, and philological issues.
The course covers the main historical, critical, and philological issues of the correspondence between Petrarch and Boccaccio. Through the reading of selected letters, the course will highlight the most important aspects of this long and intense correspondence.

Per gli studenti non frequentanti, esclusivamente per ragioni riconosciute dal Regolamento d'Ateneo, il programma d’esame dovrà essere concordato con il docente.

Il Corso si svolgerà anche in forma seminariale, con seminari e tesine di approfondimento e su temi concordati con il docente. L’esame si svolgerà in forma orale e con tesine formalizzate in redazione scritta.
The exam is made up of three parts. After the oral presentation and the written report, students will sit an oral test. They shall be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the readings (handbook and essays). Furthermore, students are assessed on their learning outcomes, through the reading and analysis of one of the texts studied in class.
