Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate basic knowledge about the major biological and physical concepts that are necessary to understand human movement. The course will integrate learning modules on Physics, Functional Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Motor Control, Neuroscience and Biomechanics, Nutrition and Sport and Exercise Psychology. An emphasis will be placed on the link between basic scientific information and professional requirements in the field of human movement studies.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
In the written exam (3 hours, multiple choise questions choice), the student must demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material. The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology.

Syllabus
Basic Principles of Physics: Force, Velocity, Acceleration, Mass, Energy. Basic principles of Dynamics, Cinematic, Static and Fluid Dynamics. Physiology: Energy and Cellular Metabolism, Membrane Dynamics, Communication, Integration, Homeostasis, Neurons and Network Properties, The Central Nervous System, Sensory Physiology, Autonomic and Somatic Motor Control, Muscles, Control of Body Movement, Cardiovascular Physiology, Blood Flow and the Control of Blood Pressure, Blood, Mechanics of Breathing, Gas Exchange and Transport, The Kidneys, Fluid and Electrolyte Balance, , Energy Balance and Metabolism, Endocrine Control of Growth and Metabolism.
