Knowledge

The course aims, through the analysis of various aspects of the geology of the Alpi Apuane (north west Tuscany), to provide general and specific knowledge of the methodology for conducting geological studies in the inner portions of orogenic systems as well as to applied structural works.

Assessment criteria of knowledge

- The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. - The student must demonstrate the ability to put into practice and to execute, with critical awareness, the activities illustrated or carried out under the guidance of the teacher during the course.

  • Laboratory report

- improved operational capacity for collection, interpretation and understanding of tectonic structures in natural examples;

During the field training the indivudual progress in skills for operational work and understanding of natural case studies will be verified.

Durante le prime lezioni saranno valutati il grado di preparazione individuale  con attività di laboratorio (lettura carte geologiche e realizzazione d isezioni geologiche speditive)
In seguito alle attività di terreno saranno richieste agli studenti delle brevi relazioni concernenti gli argomenti trattati

During the first lessons the degree of individual preparation with laboratory activities (reading geological maps) will be evaluated
Following the field activities, students will be asked to provide short reports on the topics covered

Programma (contenuti dell'insegnamento)

Le Unità metamorfiche Toscane nella geologia dell’Appennino Settentrionale.

Richiami sulle caratteristiche della strutturazione principale sin-metamorfica: geometrie, ambientazione termo-barica, vincoli cronologici: stratigrafici e radiometrici.

Richiami sulla strutturazione tardiva sin- e post-metamorfica: geometrie, interpretazioni strutturali e ambientazioni geodinamiche.

Materiali lapidei nelle Alpi Apuane: tipi principali, distribuzione e caratteri giacimentologici.

I marmi della Alpi Apuane: varietà merceologiche e giacimentologia.

Mineralizzazioni e strutture deformative.

Il campo di deformazione fragile nelle Alpi Apuane: assetti geometrici e caratteristiche strutturali alle diverse scale. Vincoli geocronologici e stratigrafici della strutturazione fragile tardiva. Strutture fragili ed estrazione del marmo: problematiche di base. Strutture fragili ed assetti idrogeologici.

Stratigraphic and geochronological constraints of the brittle structures. - Brittle structures and quarrying activity
