Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who completes the course successfully will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the historical background of Psychology and Bioethics, the major psychological theories, and the basic findings and concepts within a variety of areas of psychology. He or she will be able to identify and critically think through ethical issues in the field of human health. She or he will be also aware of the applications and implications of psychological theories and research and bioethical issues.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
In the written exam (2 hours, both open and multiple choice questions), the student must demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and to organise an effective and correctly written reply.

Syllabus
The first part of the course traces an overview of the main periods in the history of psychology and the major theoretical models to understanding human behavior. It also covers concepts and research findings around broad psychological areas, including perception, memory, learning, reasoning, intelligence, motivation, emotion, and personality. The second part of the course focuses on the definition of Bioethics, the theoretical frameworks underlying bioethics enquiry, and the main medical areas of interest in the field.
