Knowledge
The students who succesfully attended the course will have a deep knowledge and operative capability in the Medical Physics field.
Specialized skills will be transferred with particular attention to the development and / or use of physical devices for biomedical diagnostics.
The competencies acquired by the students can be successfully applied both to research and professional activities in medical physics.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss and critically comment the laboratory reports

Syllabus
The course contents can be summarized as follows:
Sources and detectors of ionizing radiation
Gamma Spectroscopy with NaI,HPGe and Si detectors and associated electronics
Quality control of X-ray beams produced by X-ray machines for medical use
Medical Imaging: Principles and Techniques
Characterization of digital imaging systems (radiography and PET)
Monte Carlo Simulations Using different Monte Carlo codes and their applications to cases of interest in medical physics
