Conoscenze

Knowledge

The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the principles that govern the matter at the nanoscale. More specifically, the students will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge in the preparation of the traditional 0D, 1D, 2D and 3D materials as well as their principal characterization, in terms of spectroscopic and microscopic investigations, and specific applications in many fields. Special attention will be aware of the main methodologies for the preparation of nanocomposites based on mixtures of thermoplastic materials and nanosized additives.

Modalità di verifica delle conoscenze

Solo mediante l'esame finale

Assessment criteria of knowledge

By means of the final exam only

Skills

At the end of the course the student will be able to discuss about the preparation, characterization and main properties/uses of the different class of nanomaterials

Assessment criteria of skills

During lessons, the students are asked to interact with the teacher to problem/solving approaches

Comportamenti

Behaviors

The student will be able to manage all the information acquired in order to develop novel nanostructured materials with special attention on the structure/properties relationship.

Assessment criteria of behaviors

The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main features of the nanoscience and nanotechnology using also the appropriate terminology.

Prerequisiti (conoscenze iniziali)

Backgroung in chimica organica/inorganica e chimica fisica

Prerequisites

Backgroung in organic/inorganic chemistry and chemical-physics chemistry.

Indicazioni metodologiche

Assessment methods

Oral presentation based on a research article delivered one week before the exam. The student must demonstrate the ability to approach a circumscribed research problem, and organise an effective exposition of the results. The student will be also assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. Question on all aspects of the program of the course.
