Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will have the ability to determinate the most diffused tree species; will acquire a solid knowledge of plant structure and anatomy; will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the systematic organization of the plant world and knowledge of detailed characteristics of the families of Angiosperms that are most common in Europe.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
- The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. - The student must demonstrate the ability to determinate plants belonging to the Italian flora.

Syllabus
Aim of the course is to supply basic knowledge of plant science, with specific reference to: i) the structure and function of plant cell organelles; ii) the anatomy, histology and morphology of plants; iii) plant strategies of adaptation to the environment; iv) analysis of plant diversity and classification methods; v) plant evolution and distinctive features of main Angiosperm families.
