Knowledge
The students who completed the course successfully should be able to
demonstrate a solid knowledge of the main parasitic groups of Protist: Amoebae, Flagellates,Apicomplexa_ Ciliophora and Microsporidia as well as
major Invertebrate parasites - Myxospridia, Platyhelmintes and Nematoda.
He or she will be able to demonstrate understanding of life cycles strategy of parasites and particular biological adaptaions for the different parasites to live inside other orgamisms.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
During the oral exam (choice of 2 essay questions) the student must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss general biological characteristics of parasitism phenomenon and particular medical
aspects of the sunject.Methods:

Syllabus
The course covers the major groups of unicellular parasites and most
common invertebrate parasites, namely: pathogenic amoebae (Entamoeba, Naegleria, Balamutia, Acanthamoeba; pathogenic flagellates (Trichomonas, Giardia, differen Kinetoplastidae); Apicomplexa (Gregarinina, Coccidia, Haemosporidia); Microsporidia and Myxosporidia (Nosema, Myxobulus) and Ciliophora (Balantidium, Ichthyophtirius);
parasites from Metazoa (Monogenea, Digenea, Cestoda and Nematoda).
