Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The course aims to introduce and discuss the fundamentals characterising every firm and/or economic organisation. The emphasis will be particularly placed on the structural and operational elements which characterise economic organisations and their interrelationships. The students will learn to draw and use accounting records and accounting documents and will acquire knowledge and competences in order to critically analyse managerial tasks.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be evaluated for his / her demonstrated ability to discuss the main contents of the course using the appropriate terminology. In the written test (mandatory for access to the oral exam), the student must demonstrate his / her knowledge of the course material, must draw up a simple document and abbreviated financial statements and should discuss them effectively and concisely the data of income and capital. During the oral exam, the student must be able to demonstrate his / her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the main topics dealt with institutional (corporate governance, organizational structure, company operation, purpose, ...). The student must demonstrate the ability to practice and perform with critical awareness, the tasks discussed or carried out under the guidance of the teacher during the course.

Syllabus
Part I The course examines economics for business as a central part of the framework of Business Studies. Topics covered include: 1. Economics for Business and firm activities; 2. The Firm: Concepts and Classifications; 3. Corporate Governance; Part II The course studies the usefulness of financial reporting to internal users and examines accounting principles. Lecture topics will include: 1. Business Administration; 2. Concepts of Financial Accounting;3. Economic concepts of capital and income; 4. The measurement of assets and liabilities and income and capital; 5. The preparation of corporate financial reports: balance sheets; income statements
