ISTITUZIONI DI LOGICA | M-FIL/02 | LEZIONI | 36 |
|
The student who completes the course successfully will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of first steps in first order logic (propositional and predicate logic), in particular of its language, its semantics and its inference rules. S/he will be able to produce and evaluate arguments in many fields even outside logic (mainly philosophy and human sciences). S/he will develop ability for critical thinking and for analyzing questions and solving problems on purely rational grounds.
During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression. - The student's ability to explain correctly the main topics presented during the course at the board will be assessed. - The student must demonstrate his/her skill in solving problems concerning the topics of the course, in particular s/he must demonstrate his/her capacity to formalize sentences of ordinary language in a formal language, to test the logical validity of first order sentences and to assess the soundness of simple argument patterns.

Students are expected to partecipate in an active way -asking questions, making comments and in-depth analysis- to the teacher's explanation.
It is teacher's duty to keep alive the student's attention and active partecipation.
