Knowledge
At the end of this course students are expected to: 1) know the histological organization of tissues and demonstrate knowledge of human cells morphology and histophysiological implications; 2) understand and use anatomical terms; 3) identify the organs of the human body and describe their gross and microscopic anatomy; 4) know the location of each organ and the important anatomical landmarks; 5) have basis for understanding the functional anatomy (i.e. correlation between structure and function) of the human musculoskeletal, respiratory, digestive, urinary, reproductive, endocrine, nervous, vascular, lymphatic and immune systems.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
For the module of Histology the student must demonstrate knowledge of the topics in a written report. For the module of Anatomy, the student must be able: 1) to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the various topics during an oral exam; 2) to discuss each matter in a comprehensive manner, with appropriate command of anatomical nomenclature.

Methods:

  • Final oral exam
  • Final written exam

Further information:
Final written exam of Histology 20%, final oral exam of Anatomy 80%.

Syllabus
The content of the course is designed to provide basic information on the structure and function of organs and systems of the human body. Lectures emphasize the histology and functional anatomy of the musculoskeletal, respiratory, digestive, urinary, reproductive, endocrine, nervous, vascular, lymphatic and immune systems.
