  • la prima globalizzazione nella seconda metà del 19° secolo;
  • gli anni tra le due guerre mondiali, 1914-1945;
  • i differenti percorsi di sviluppo tra gli anni cinquanta e gli anni sessanta;
  • il processo di integrazione europeo;
  • la crisi degli anni settanta e l'emergere di nuovi mercati (1973-1981);

Syllabus

The first part of the course explores the so-called "golden age" of the international economic system during the last decades of the 19th century and the first years of the 20th century, its collapse in the crises of 1914-1945, the different systems developed during the cold war years and the new turn towards global integration at the end of the century:

  • the first globalization in the second half of the 19th century;
  • the interwar period 1914-1945;
  • the different economic patterns in the 1950s and in 1960s;
  • the European integration process (1930-1990);
  • the slowdown and the emergence of new markets (1973-1981);
  • the second globalisation during the 1980s and the 1990s.

The second part of the course will be dedicated to the problem of industrial policies in historical and comparative perspective.
