The course is organized in several distinct but modules dealing with the major techniques for functional imaging of human brain. The student who completes the course successfully will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the main issues related to EEG and MRI with particular attention to the whole set of information that characterizes the functional imaging of human brain.

During the examination the student will be assessed on his/her knowledge and deep understanding of the topics dealt with during the course with a  focus on the student's ability to link different topics in a comprehensive view.

Syllabus

MRI and EEG techniques. Designing an fMRI experiment on sensory cortex. Resting state correlation methods and algorithms. Diffusion Tensor Imaging and correlation with anatomical pathways. Comparison between fMRI, EEG and ECoGs studies in human. fMRI techniques for topographic mapping (retinotopy, tonotopy, somatotopy etc). Laboratory Unit for fMRI analysis. Laboratory Unit for VEP recording and analysys.
