By the end of the course, the students must have attained a proficiency level in English equal to the B1 Level (Threshold Level) of the CEFR. They will be able to maintain interaction and get across what they want to, in a range of tourism-related contexts; to generally follow the main points of extended discussion around them; to provide speech which is clearly articulated in standard English; to express the main point they want to make comprehensibly; to keep going comprehensibly, even though pausing for grammatical and lexical planning and repair is very evident, especially in longer stretches of free production. Students will also have the ability to cope flexibly with problems in professional life, for example coping with less routine situations on public transport; deal with most situations likely to arise when making travel arrangements through an agent or when actually travelling; to enter unprepared into conversations on familiar tourism-related topics.
Students will be tested to verify that they have attained the level B1 of the CEFR in Tourism English.
