Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the main issues related to the pediatric oral surgery. He or she will acquire knowledge of clinical procedures and technologies for correction of child dentofacial deformities. He or she will be able to analyze and correlate the principles of diagnosis, etiology, and therapy of the main pediatric surgical diseases. Lastly, he or she will be aware of modern surgical instruments, surgical approaches and surgical techniques.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. - During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression. - The student's ability to explain correctly the main topics presented during the course at the board will be assessed. - The student must demonstrate the ability to put into practice and to execute, with critical awareness, the activities illustrated or carried out under the guidance of the teacher during the course.

Syllabus
The course provides notions on the main surgical procedures, as well as basic correction of dentofacial deformities, frenulotomy, frenulectomy and orthognatic surgery. The course also approaches the main issues related to diagnosis, etiology and epidemiology of the pediatric surgical diseases. The second part of the course focuses on the modern surgical instruments, covering the processing methods and their using principles. Lastly, some issues related to the descriptions of the most modern orthognatic surgical techniques will be shown.
