By the end of the course the student will be able to refine his awareness in recognizing the main features of a Latin text from a historical-linguistic and stylistic point of view.

Il corso prevede lezioni frontali che tuttavia presuppongono e sollecitano il più possibile la partecipazione attiva degli studenti.
The course includes lectures which, however, presuppose and solicit the active participation of students as much as possible.
1) Il latino letterario di epoca arcaica
Durante il corso verranno letti brani particolarmente significativi a illustrazione delle caratteristiche del latino letterario di epoca arcaica
2) Oltre ai testi analizzati a lezione, gli studenti leggeranno autonomamente anche

1) The literary Latin of the Archaic period
During the course, particularly significant passages will be read to illustrate the characteristics of literary Latin of the Archaic period
2) In addition to the texts analyzed in class, students will also read
an handbook of the history of the Latin language
as well as the following texts in the original language:
Plautus, Miles gloriosus
Terentius, Andria
Plautus, Curculio
For the texts of the course the bibliography will be indicated in class
For the part of the exam to be prepared independently, the bibliography is as follows:

Gli studenti non frequentanti sostituiranno la parte del programma relativa al corso con lo studio di A. Traina, Comoedia. Antologia della palliata, Padova 2000.

La prova orale
Per le modalità d'esame online valgono le seguenti disposizioni:
Per l'esame online gli studenti dovranno
1) mostrarsi in video;
2) esibire preliminarmente in video il testo oggetto di interrogazione per accertare che esso sia privo di annotazioni;
3) coprire una eventuale traduzione a fronte.
In mancanza di una copia del testo adeguata, lo studente, prima dell'esame, potrà scaricarne e stamparne una copia da Internet.
The oral exam will start from the reading in the original language of one of the texts in the program on the basis of which the candidate must first demonstrate the ability to read them with the correct accent (and, in the case of texts in verses, in metrics), to know how to identify grammatical and syntactic structures, to provide a correct Italian translation; furthermore, the candidate must demonstrate that he is able to insert the various linguistic phenomena present in that text into a more comprehensive picture of the history of the Latin language.
