The course aims to provide a general knowledge on the abuse of chemical substances and the basic mechanisms of drug addiction. The course provides in-depth knowledge on the main classes of substances of abuse and classified as doping, with particular regard to their chemical structures, structure-activity relationships and the chemical basis of the mechanism of action that determine their pharmacological effects and toxicity.
