Learning outcomes
To provide a background of essential phytopathological knowledge. The student is able to: understand the terminology and the common language, know the basic procedures in diagnosis and in plant protection.
The aims of Entomology of Medicinal Plants are to provide training in rapid identification of the systematic position and of the physiological and morpho-functional characteristics of insect species infesting cultivated and stored medical and aromatic plants (MAP). The course will also provide knowledge on the damaging developmental stages of the pests, the type of damage inflicted, the type of method of control to be adopted and the most suitable time for carrying out control measures. Students will be taught the basic knowledge enabling them to choose the most suitable products, with particular emphasis on products that ensure effectiveness, safety of the health, and protection of the environment.
