The course aims to teach the pharmaceutical botany and the identification through some peculiar botanical characteristics (systematic botany) of plants contained in herbal drugs and food supplements. Students at the end of the course should be able to recognize and identify the herbal drugs and to know their secondary metabolites responsible of the pharmacological activity. Furthermore, the herbal drugs preparation will be examined. The course will include also 30 hours (2 CFU) of practical classes in the laboratory where ¿some plants will be identified with the help of stereomicroscope and analytical keys.
