Learning outcomes
The learning activity consists of a set of concepts that characterize the Degree in Science and Technology of Animal Productions. The course covers a high significance in the preparation of Livestock Expert in relation to specific abilities in the field of Livestock and Productions Hygiene.
The main objectives of the course concern the prevention of infectious and contagious diseases of animals in livestock production. Starting from the basics of bacteriology, virology and immunology, the aspects related to aetiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, laboratory diagnosis and prophylaxis of infectious diseases, with a focus on zoonosis will be developed and deepened. At the end of the course, students will have gained solid knowledge regarding aetiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis laboratory diagnosis and prevention of infectious diseases of animals in livestock production. Moreover, the student will acquire the skills to understand the interaction between animals, environment and pathogens, and will be able to analyse the factors predisposing the spread of infectious diseases and implement effective prevention and control strategies.
