The goal of the course of “Philosophy and Literature” is to investigate a variety of relationships between philosophy and literature through the analysis of an author, a specific period or theme which are particularly relevant from this perspective. The course has an interdisciplinary imprint and aims to promote the study of the interaction between philosophical and literary discourse, taking into account their specificities as well as their areas of intersection within a series of historical and cultural contexts. It presupposes a level of knowledge concerning the history of philosophy or the history and theory of literature, with a view to widening their respective horizons so as to enhance the students’ cultural growth in an interdisciplinary key. At the end of the course, students are supposed to have acquired a theoretical and methodological knowledge allowing them to critically discuss the relationship between philosophy and literature and to analyze the literary forms and figures within philosophical texts, along with the connotations relating to knowledge and ethics which underpin literary texts.
