Educational goals:
Provide basic knowledge on the representation of geographical information and its management within an organization.
Description:
Basic concepts of digital mapping and cartography.
Models for the representation of space and the conceptual tools and techniques for the representation of territorial entities.
Core functionality of GIS: the acquisition process, related to different types of data sources, the main processing functions, with particular attention to the crossover operation, and finally the techniques of restitution.
Laboratory work will provide familiarity with one of the most popular commercial GIS software and to check on it the principles outlined in the theoretical lessons.
