Educational Goals
The course aims to introduce students to the structure and purpose of the catalog, the principles and standards of cataloging (the Paris Principles, FADN / REICAT, ISBD, UNIMARC, FRBR). We will analyze and study the cataloging process (descriptive cataloging - monographs, journals, old books, non-book material, gray literature, electronic resources – semantic cataloging – CDD, subjects), the catalog maintenance (cleaning up the catalog, participatory cataloging, derivative catalogin , authority lists, authority control). The course will also include practices on texts and materials distributed by the teachers.
