Syllabus:
Introductory Geology - Exogenous (6 credits)

Fossils, rocks, soil, Earth resources observation, measurement and recording - Synthesis of observations - interpretation - Investigation and hypothesis-testing - communicating findings.

Sedimentary processes, (erosion, transport, sedimentation diagenesis and weathering.) and sedimentary environments sedimentary rocks classification, Stratigraphic principles. Litho-chrono-biostratigraphy, geochronology. Elaboration of stratigraphic logs, well logs. Munsell soil chart. Hypsometry of the Earth surface, fundamental physiographic features of geologic provinces. Rock deformation and mechanical behaviour of rocks, main structures of brittle and ductile deformation drawing geological structures, natural hazards, placer deposits.
