Learning outcomes

The student who has successfully completed the course will be able to demonstrate an advanced understanding of the structural and physiological characteristics of microorganisms, particularly with respect to human pathogens, and the study of the mechanisms of infectious diseases. Moreover, objective of the course is to provide students with a good understanding of the mechanisms of action of antimicrobial drugs more common and the ways in which infectious agents develop resistance to them.
The student will also have an advanced understanding of the main risk factors and conditions that contribute to the development of chronic diseases. He / she will acquire the principles of infectious disease prevention and control in the community or in health facilities. In addition, the student will have the knowledge on health promotion including determinants of cultural, social and behavioral disease and epidemiological methods used in the study of diseases.
