Learning outcomes

The course aims at giving the basic knowledge about the use of the computers to study and solve economic problems. At the end of the course, the students will be able to analyze the mathematical structure of some classical economic problems in macroeconomic, microeconomic and finance, and to apply the studied computational methods for solving such problems. The first part of the course consists of a brief introduction to Matlab and Maple, while the second part deals with programming techniques for numerical calculus and for symbolic calculus software. Particular attention will be given to numerical errors. All lessons will be held in the computer lab.
