Learning outcomes

The aim is to give a general view on the aspects of genetic toxicology from a theoretical and experimental point of view in relation to safety of human health. It will be studied: 1) molecular aspects of the mutation process with special emphasis to both epigenetic and toxicological mechanisms;
2) the cellular response to maintain the integrity of the genetic material;
3) in vitro or in vivo short term tests for identification and evaluation of the genotoxic potential of chemical compounds in bacterial and eukaryotic cell systems of different organisms to be employed in the field
of biotechnologies.
