Learning outcomes

To provide the basic knowledge of the microbial world (prokaryotes and eukaryotes), and in particular the structure and physiology of the bacterial cell, the classification of bacteria in relation to the oxygen demand of the growth and direction of the main bacterial species in relation to their etiological role in human and veterinary pathology. The production of toxins. Description of the general characteristics of viruses, their structure, nucleic acid incorporation (DNA or RNA). Definition of the concepts of pathogenicity and virulence, contagion and infection.
Knowing the principles of general hygiene and risk factors related to the onset of chronic degenerative diseases and the role of environmental and food matrices in the transmissibility of the agents of infection.
Knowing the basics for primary prevention strategies.
