Educational Goals
The course addresses the problem of the project and the use of specific databases, called Data Warehouse, to produce summary information suitable to facilitate decision making in an organization. We also discuss the new requirements that these problems pose to the database technology in order to enable rapid interactive analysis of large amounts of data.

Computer and information systems in organizations. Directional computer systems based on data warehouse. Data models for data warehouses and multidimensional methods of analysis. Conceptual and logical data warehouse. Algorithms for selecting views to materialize. The technology of data warehouse systems: types of indexes, query optimization, physical design, query rewriting for use of materialized views. Case studies.
