The students who complete the course successfully will be able to acquire a good knowledge of the history of ideas in European culture, with special reference to 18th and 19th century France. The students will be guided to investigate the great themes of literature that are deeply rooted in the collective unconscious through an approach to the cultural contexts within which the literary texts are placed.
