A series of events such as energy crises, the introduction of new materials and products, the evolution of construction techniques, the formulation of new rules, standards and certifications, combined with the modern lifestyles, loaded the building envelope of responsibilities which have changed its role and its physical composition. The course aims to provide the knowledge on materials and manufacturing techniques for the design and realization of energy-efficient buildings. The course proposes the analysis of study cases, to contribute to the development of the student's ability to develop design solutions oriented towards the innovation and the sustainability in the buildings construction sector.
