The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge on the evolutionary history of the main lineages of marine mammals: Cetacea (Mysticeti and Odontoceti, Archaeoceti), Sirenia, Pinnipedia and Desmostylia. The course also focuses on the main methods of prospecting, taphonomic data collection and recovery and conservation of marine mammals. The student will be able to recognize and classify, either in the field and in the laboratory, a fossil of marine mammal.
