The course is aimed to give theoretic notions on physiopathological mechanisms related to relevant pathological states which involve a surgical approach; symptoms and functional consequences related to diseases which request a surgical intervention are presented and the principles of diagnostic procedures concerning surgical pathologies are illustrated. Moreover, the characteristics and the employment of the main medical and surgical devices are described for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.
