Learning outcomes

The course will include the study of the morphology and the physiology of the bacterial cell, the study of pathogenic mechanisms of the bacteria, fungi and protozoa involved in human infections and the study of the structure and replication mechanisms of viruses.
An other aim of the course is to explain the principles of laboratory diagnosis of the main bacterial, fungal, protozoal and viral human infections.
The course will also deal with the action mechanisms of principal antibacterial and antiviral molecules as well as with the bacterial resistance mechanisms towards such drugs.
