Learning outcomes

The main goal of this course is to introduce the multi-target approach as one of most
investigated strategies for development of new promiscuous molecules useful to treat
“network diseases”.
Differences between one-drug-one target approach and one-drug-multitarget approach will
be discussed as well as the main pitfalls and caveats of both these strategies.
Pipeline drugs and synthetic approaches pursued to obtain multi-target drugs will be also discussed.
Objectives: (a) Highlight the existence of dynamic networks involved in several complex
pathologies (b) Highlight the need to develop challenging research tools for discovery of
new drugs (c) Discuss the main drawbacks for the application of multi-target strategy on
drug discovery
