The principles of histochemical: staining of the main constituents of the tissues: the method of PAS, the metachromasia, fat-soluble dyes and vital dyes. Principles and main applications of enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunocytochemistry. Monoclonal antibodies and their applications in histology. In situ hybridization, in situ PCR: principles and main
applications in morphological studies. Outline of technical Istoautoradiografiche. The main types of optical microscope: resolving power, measures in histology. Application of histochemistry and immunohistochemistry to prepared microscopy

techniques for sample preparation and their use in morphological studies.
Application of histochemistry and immunohistochemistry in cells and tissues cultured in
vitro. The laboratory cell cultures; equipment, use of cell cultures in morphological studies. Laboratory: Microscopic observation and optical recognition of histological preparations of human tissue treated with histological and histochemical methods (lining epithelia, glandular epithelia, connective tissue proper, cartilage, bone, blood, nervous tissue, muscle tissue). Visit to the laboratories of electron microscopy and description of the instruments.
