The final examination consists in an essay written in the Italian language or in a second foreign language studied by the student. The topic of the final essay must be agreed with the supervisor, who can be any lecturer on the degree course. The work must demonstrate the student's ability to work with primary and secondary texts and to know how to prepare a critical analysis or a motivated bibliography. Originality is not indispensable.
