Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide theoretic and practical adeguate preparation for the formulation, development and testing, in industrial and galenic field, the most common types of drugs and any other magistral formula applying more suitable galenical techniques.
Knowledge of the composition of both traditional and innovative pharmaceutical forms will allow the pharmacist to carry out function of advice and support to the patient. The pharmacist is the first to whom the patient addresses, particularly for advice concerning small diseases daily, from the seasonal indisposition to the disorders of children and elderly, to suffering for stress etc. Pharmacist can provide correct orientation to therapeutic choice in self-medication of patients giving information on new products or new formulations of already existing drugs.
This course will form the student in role that the pharmacist has to control the istructions given by doctors. The right use of medicine is very often repeated and emphasized to the patient, just by the pharmacist who gives instructions on the dosage, mode of administration, proper use of the pharmaceutical form.
The course will include a theoretical part and exercitation in laboratory where (Galenic) preparations (magistral or officinal) of medicines are made
