Credits 6
Learning outcomes
During the course the students learn the basic theoretical information necessary to the understanding of the formulation principles and to the design of either conventional dosage forms or modified-release systems with improved drug bioavailability. The qualitative and quantitative factors that are involved in drug release from the pharmaceutical dosage forms (conventional ones and delivery systems) and the relevant equations will be described. Furthermore, the basic aspects of pharmacokinetics concerning the main processes, such as absorption, distribution, elimination (metabolism and excretion) of the active principle following its release from the dosage form will be discussed.
