The course aims to provide students with the knowledge on alternative methods assessed in toxicological chemistry, in particular on non-testing approaches based on computer-assisted methodologies, in order to minimize unnecessary animal testing to fulfill the goal of REACH regulation. The lessons will focus on basic methodologies, such as QSAR/QSPR, Read Across and Trend Analysis; the laboratory hours will allow students to directly carry out a study on molecules of chemical-pharmaceutical-toxicological interest, using programs such as Volsurf, Metasite, QSAR-Toolbox, Toxtree and/or analogues, distinguishing 2D and 3D approaches
