Learning outcomes
The course addresses a central issue of social analysis, the process of social change, which knowledge is a necessary prerequisite for the study of many relevant phenomena taking place in contemporary society.
The course will propose an analysis of the theories of social change (mainly in the light of the key concept of modernity) and related questions. Particular attention will be paid to specific features of social change (e.g. cultural change) as well as the consequences of its dynamics on the lives of individuals and social groups.The student who successfully completes the course will have a good knowledge of the theories of social change and their most significant concepts. He/she will be able to interpret one of the most important phenomena in modern societies and critically analyze some specific aspects.
