Learning outcomes

Many officinal plants biosynthesize secondary metabolites endowed with significant biological activity and - in many instances - of possible human toxicity. Professional activities, which imply frequent challenging with these species endowed with potential toxicity, may expose the worker to a relevant risk. Then, it is necessary that the graduate will possess an adequate knowledge of: a) the most dangerous species, b) the toxical phytochemicals in these species, c) the pathways and modalities of intoxication (ingestion, contact, inhalation, etc. and how to avoid it, d) the most correct practices to carry out, waiting for the rescue by specialized medical staff.
