The new wave of globalization and mondialisation has led our society to get in touch with new cultures and religions. Our society has proven to be unprepared to cope with the new challenges brought by these “external” culture. Because of the geopolitical situation of Italy (immigration, proximity to the African shores, new rights of citizenship) it gets fundamental to understand Islam as religion and political system.

The aim of the course is to give the fundamental knowledge of the Islamic beliefs and way of governance, taking into account the Islam mixes inextricably religion and policy.
