This evidence-based comprehensive undergraduate course on implant dentistry provides teachings on the basic knowledge, which are considered the robust basis in everyday implant dentistry. The course covers several sections: bone biology, physiological mechanisms of bone healing, bone remodeling pattern, main causes of bone atrophy, osseointegration, pre-operative planning in implant dentistry. Subsequently, the students will be guided toward a deep analysis of implant biomechanics, implant placement and prosthodontics rehabilitation. The students, who complete this course, will be taught in clinical and technological advances in implant dentistry. Moreover, the students at the end of implant dentistry course will be able to recognize different levels of clinical difficulty, different degrees of risk for aesthetic, restorative and surgical complications related to implant dentistry.
The course also discusses the principles of surgery in infectious processes of the oral cavity, the techniques and materials used.
