Learning outcomes

The Portuguese Language II course consists of a thematic course given by the lecturer (54 hours, 9 CFU) and of a “lettorato” (language practice) given by native speaking instructors (CELs). Both the course and the language practice contribute to bringing students up to B1+ proficiency level in Portuguese. The lecturer’s course includes the description of the fundamental characteristics of the Portuguese language at the syntactic (sentence constituents) and semantic (temporal, modal and aspectual values) levels. The attainment of level B1+ implies that the student is able to understand moderately complex and extensive written texts, on topics including abstract ones, within a variety of communicative contexts, also inferring implicit meanings; that he/she is able to write sufficiently detailed texts, illustrating different points of view with the ability to argue. It also requires the student to be able to express him/herself orally with a good degree of autonomy, correctness and spontaneity on various topics and to show good receptive competence in oral contexts.
