The activities of the first year consist of a course of in-depth metalinguistic study and reading exercises and aim at the acquisition of adequate phonetic-phonological, morphosyntactic and lexical levels, with particular regard to the morphology and syntax of the verb (verb tenses, verbs of motion, first rudiments of aspect) and the morphology and syntax of cases (nominal, adjectival and pronominal). At the end of the course, the aim is to reach a linguistic competence equivalent to level A1+ and some competences (comprehension of short written and oral statements, conversation skills) of level A2 of QCER.
