Learning outcomes

The course is devoted to diffusion models in marketing, a fastly growing area since Bass’ contribution. The topic covered are: the “external” (diffusion by media) and “internal” (diffusion by inter-human contacts) models, their merging into the Bass’ model, and several extensions up to the recent literature, including the debate on social contact patterns. Issues of data-based modelling, estimation, and simulation of markets are included
