Learning outcomes
The course will focus on the environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure. In particular, the following topics will be addressed: the regulations (European, national and regional), the administrative procedure, the writing of the environmental impact study document and the tools for assessing the impacts. Other closely related topics will be discussed, such as: strategic environmental assessment, impact assessment and integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC) beyond related authorization procedures (AIA, AUA). After an introduction to the general theory of decision making and decision support systems, the main evaluation tools will be represented, for example, multicriteria analysis, and life cycle analysis. Applications to real case studies will be presented throughout the course in order to clarify the theoretical topics. During the course, transversal skills will also be developed through team based learning activities.
